To say that man can reason correctly and cogently apart from having the Bible at the foundation of his thinking sets man up as the standard and the judge over what is true and what is not true; he becomes the ultimate epistemological authority and not the Bible.

Two things happen when we sin: one to God and one to ourselves.
When we sin, God is offended because it is His Law that we are breaking.
Also, when we sin, we also die. We don’t die right there on the spot, but we do make it a certainty that we will face a death that is far more severe.
Sin, even the slightest, kills us (Rom. 6:23)…
If you read the Old Testament with the presupposition that you don’t think the God of Christianity is worthy of worship and/or read it to find ways to shore up your disbelief, it’s easy to make a seemingly coherent appeal that the OT God is simply awful.
