Something funny and something serious for Pride Month

First the funny from the Babylon Bee who, as they often do, nailed it.

U.S.—For Pride Month, hundreds of corporations are being applauded for bravely coming out in support of an incredibly popular, socially acceptable, entirely mainstream movement: the LGBTQ+ community.

It obviously takes a lot of courage for a big corporation to fly a rainbow-colored flag, sell rainbow merchandise, or temporarily change their logo to pride colors. So these massive companies are really going out on a limb here, supporting a movement that you’re literally ostracized for not supporting.

And now for the serious, here is something I posted a while back [emphasis added]. No virtue signaling, pandering, or political correctness to appease the dumbed down masses with me. My opinion is the same as it has been for two decades and it will never change, ever.

The Bible provides God’s blueprint for marriage and for His good gift of sex in Genesis 2:24. The gift is only to be enjoyed within a marriage between a man and a woman.

There are no exceptions suggested, such as homosexual partnerships. From Genesis on, the Bible praises the marriage of a man and a woman, but it speaks only negatively of homosexual behavior whenever it is mentioned.

The Old Testament states, “Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman; that is detestable” (Leviticus 18:22 and 20:13). The New Testament agrees, listing “homosexual offenders” among a list of people who “will not inherit the kingdom of God” unless they are cleansed through Christ (1 Corinthians 6:9-11).

Other passages are Genesis, chapter 19; Romans 1:18-32; 1 Timothy 1:8-11; and Jude, verse 7.

Sometimes it is said that the Bible does not record any words of Jesus about homosexuality, and therefore it must be acceptable to God. However, the Bible does not record sayings of Jesus about a number of other specific sins either. When people asked Jesus about marriage, He told them to remember what Genesis said about God’s plan for marriage (Matthew 19:1-12). So, in this sense, Jesus did have something to say about homosexual partnerships. God only blessed sex within the committed marriage relationship of a man and a woman.

To those of us who believe what the Bible says about love, lust, sex, and marriage, our place is not to judge the state of another’s soul, but to warn them of the dangers of a hardened conscience. With love and gentleness, we are to lead them away from the lies of the world and toward God’s truth, no matter how hard it is for them to hear and accept. “If anyone among you wanders from the truth and someone brings him back, let him know that whoever brings back a sinner from his wandering will save his soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins” (James 5:19-20).

Even as we do this, we need to tend to the “planks” in our own eyes—check our sins before we rashly confront another’s. Have we loved as we should, cared for the poor as God commanded, fed the fatherless, shown grace to the downtrodden, and forgiven those who have sinned against us?

This is the calling of all who claim to the followers of Christ, even as we stumble, fail, and sin along the way: to love one another as Christ has loved us. This is the testimony that will shine a light in the darkness and heal a broken world; this is the witness that will give unrepentant sinners the courage to choose to follow Christ and find more joy than they could ever imagine.
