There is a surprising number of Christians who will not go to Heaven

I heard a sermon the other day where the pastor quoted a Southern Baptist Convention survey that said 90 percent of people who identify as Christians ARE NOT going to Heaven.

The reason for this, according to the pastor, is because people are told that all they have to do is say a prayer and they are good to go with God. In other words, they pray (probably insincerely), continue living just as they were, and are never transformed into new Creations.

I think 90 percent is too high but I wouldn’t be a bit surprised if the actual number (and we can’t ever really know for sure) isn’t well north of 50 percent. You can see self-described Christians who are virtually indistinguishable from the world in their behavior and actions everywhere you go (even in churches) if you don’t believe me.

Anyway, I have been trying to find the survey and haven’t had much luck so, if you happen to know where it is, please drop the link in a comment.

When I was looking, though, I found this and thought it was interesting.

“Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!'”
