I have a fear of heights. I’m also uncomfortable in small spaces. I’ve had dreams about dying on the ocean.

These are not unusual phobias, but did you know there is a fear of going to bed? Some people are threatened by the number 8. There is a fear of going to the zoo! There are phobias for hundreds of other things too.

We all suffer from this malady called fear. It’s part of our human nature. Many seek psychiatric help for relief. Some try to overcome fear by doing just the thing they are afraid of. Others believe they can think their fears away.

When God’s children are afraid, they are told to depend on their heavenly Father for refuge.

Psalm 34:4 “I sought the LORD, and he answered me and delivered me from all my fears.”

What a comfort it is to know that someone else is willing to take that load from us. Fear will never be completely out of our lives until we reach paradise, but when they become unbearable, we know that we can get through them with God’s help.

  1. Yes, God can take away our fears if we hand them over to Him. God bless you for sharing this piece.
