This has been a week of cleaning out the cobwebs. Those nasty little nuisances along with the fur balls that concentrate under the bed seem to pile up just as fast as the dust that settles on the furniture.
As I go through closets and see the abundance of clothes that I haven’t worn in years, it makes me aware of the bounty that fills my life. I have so much. As time goes by, we accumulate things that seem important to us. We save things, hoping to use them again. We hang on to things that really have no value. We often forget to thank God for His blessings.
I think back to the days when our business failed and we had to give up everything and start all over again. It’s been twenty four years now and we have been blessed time after time.
God’s bountiful love is unending. He provides the way for us to clean the clutter and sorrows out of our life through His only Son, Jesus. As we approach Thanksgiving Day, let’s not forget who is responsible for the food we eat, the clothes we wear, the roof over our heads, our families and friends, our jobs and most of all our salvation.
As Orphan Annie so optimistically puts it, “Just thinking about tomorrow clears away the cobwebs and the sorrows, til there’s none.” Let’s forget about yesterday and look forward to tomorrow and the next day and the next with the creator of the universe, the one who has washed us clean from all our sins.
