What if everyone treated their Bibles like their phones?

Put down your phones and pick up your Bibles.

You need less of this…

…and more of this.

I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16.33

“So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace.” Romans 8:6

“And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful.” Colossians 3:15

“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.” Psalms 46:1

“It is God who arms me with strength and makes my way perfect. He makes my feet like the feet of a deer; he enables me to stand on the heights. He trains my hands for battle; my arms can bend a bow of bronze. You give me your shield of victory, and your right hand sustains me; you stoop down to make me great. You broaden the path beneath me, so that my ankles do not turn.” Psalm 18:32-36

“Great peace have those who love your law, and nothing can make them stumble.” Psalm 119:165

“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10

“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” Deuteronomy 31:6

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self control. Against such there is no law. And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we all live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.” Galatians 5:22-26

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” John 14.27

“May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope, encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good deed and word.” 2 Thessalonians 2:16-17

  1. yes! this reminded me of Annie Downs’s New Years post a little bit, what would it look like if I spent 1 hour in the word every day for a year? What would it look like for me if everytime I had an urge to check facebook, I checked my bible app. http://www.incourage.me/2016/01/new-years-experiments-2.html
Doesn’t have to be a huge life-altering change, doesn’t even have to be for new years. Just a change of mindset. Thank you for this post! Love it.

  2. This is a great post. What if you got a Bible app on your phone? Either way, that why we must study the scriptures so the Word will be embedded in our hearts. Thanks for the post. I’m particularly fond at this moment, Psalm 119:165. I’m mediating on it for my day scripture.

  3. Reblogged this on Thru His vessel JB and commented:
My brothers and sisters in Christ, Your Bible is your life, not your phone. Funny thing is I left my phone home and I’m fine. I don’t depend on it but ask God for wisdom in the ever dependent society of technology.
