WATER EVERYWHERE

There are so many references to water in the Bible. God separated the waters to create land masses. He created a canopy of water over the earth to keep the vegetation moist and richly healthy He turned water into blood in the first plague in Exodus. He sent water to destroy the earth and all its inhabitants except one family and two of each species. He saw to it that His Son was baptized with water and the Word, even though Jesus was already free from sin.

He provides living water through that same Jesus. We need water. Without it we cannot survive for very long. Our mouths grow thirsty, our bodies begin to weaken, our skin dries up and our organs shut down after a while. Maybe that’s why God talks about water in His word as an example of a life giving source.

Here is just one example: John 7:38 “Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, ‘Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.”

Thank you, dear Father, for providing us with the water necessary to sustain us. It fills our every need for life.  May we be washed clean in His righteousness and give others the reassurance  that through Jesus, we can be sure of an eternity in heaven .  Amen.

  1. It has been 28 years in Christ, I am still wondering just what exactly the “living waters” are. Did it ever occur to anyone they might be laughter? Whatever they are, we know they are good, and life-bringing…
