There Is No Night There

Seen On a Church Sign

no night there

Revelation 21:4

And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

Revelation 22:5

And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever.

Heaven, now there is a great topic! It’s what believers, saved by the Grace of God, look forward to. We may not be in a hurry to get there, but we should be looking forward to it.

What will heaven be like for sure? Well, I don’t know, and neither do you. We can only say with certainty what The Bible tells us, and that is, really, not that much. Not much in the specifics, but quite a lot in the generalities.

We all know it will be wonderful, and we all know it will be…..better. It will be new, and it will not be…all of this.  Books have been written about Heaven, and some are really great reading. All we will have here is just some general ramblings about what that sign brought to mind. Actually, they won’t even be my ramblings. Stay tuned!

No Night There

In the land of endless day
lies the city four-square;
it shall never pass away
and there is no night there.

All the gates of pearl are made
in the city four-square;
all the streets with gold are laid,
and there is no night there.

 And the gates shall never close
in the city four-square,
there life’s crystal river flows,
and there is no night there

There thy need no sunshine bright,
in that city four-square;
for the Lamb is all the light,
and there is no night there

God shall wipe away all tears;
there’s no death, no pain, nor fears;
and thy count not time by years
for there is no night there.

And  I found the following by Francis M. Knollis

There Is No Night In Heaven

There is no night in Heaven;
In that blest world above
Work never can bring weariness,
For work itself is love.

There is no grief in Heaven;
For life is one glad day;
And tears are of those former things
Which all have passed away.

There is no sin in Heaven;
Behold that blessèd throng:
All holy is their spotless robe,
All holy is their song!

There is no death in Heaven;
For they who gain that shore
Have won their immortality,
And they can die no more.

Lord Jesus, be our guide;
O lead us safely on,
Till night and grief and sin and death
Are past, and Heaven is won!

  1. Thanks for sharing these! As for me I hope that there is night in Heaven because I love to lie on my back and enjoy the stars. Same goes for rain and snow. I know that night is often equated with sin and spiritual darkness, but Sin will be gone so there will be nothing to fear. (I know I’m not focusing on the point of the poems but just wanted to add my 2 cents:))

  2. molly and wally, nice thought but don’t you think the things u will see in heaven is far more better than things on earth. the stars, rain, and snow etc., they will be replaced with far more better things. Eyes has not seen, nor had the ears heard nor has it been placed in the heart of man what God has put in place for man

    • Hi David

      I don’t disagree with that at all, as the Bible does indeed teach us that what we see in heaven will be far better than on Earth.

      On the other hand, we will be in our resurrected bodies(far better also than the ones we are in), so while the Bible may not spell it out, there is nothing that teaches we won’t enjoy things such as we may have liked while here, either.

      Thanks for coming by, and I hope to see you again!
